For about a decade, beginning in 2001, I recorded and released music under the name 'porter'. What began as an experiment in arranging loops – drums, guitar, whatever – morphed into a kind of ambient style that is, I guess, a precursor to the music I'm releasing as Sentimental Math.

In listening to the porter tracks again, I've found some forgotten gems. I've also found some over-indulgent turds. Good taste and common sense dictate that we stick with the gems and leave the turds to be discovered elsewhere.
